Google + users are posting about their love of open source Linux OS and buzzing about Japanese girl group AKB48.
AKB48 is an experimental all-girl Japanese pop group, which has 64 members in total. Unlike a regular pop group, AKB48 is subdivided into four teams -- A, K, B and 4 -- and performs concerts on a daily basis at its theater in Tokyo. The line-up of the group changes regularly with older girls 'graduating' and new younger trainees entering the group through a selection process. Tuesday's second most popular trend on Google+, #Maeda0827, refers to the 'graduation' concert of long time AKB48 member Atsuko Maeda which is due to take place on August 27.
Google + users are also sharing their love of open source Linux OS: most users are joking about the system's alleged superiority to Apple's OS or Windows, while others are focusing on the upcoming annual Linux community technical meeting, LinuxCon, in San Diego on August 29-31.
British-born director Tony Scott, best known for works such as Top Gun and Crimson Tide, appears on the Google+ trends for the second day running after the 68-year-old committed suicide on Sunday.
