Twitter users in the UK are buzzing about a rumored escaped lion roaming Essex and infamous troll Olly Riley on Monday, August 27.
Police are deploying helicopters and armed officers in St Osyth area of Essex, UK, after members of the public in the area reported what they believed to be a lion roaming the countryside.
While the police appear to be taking the threat seriously, Twitter users are taking the matter a little more lightheartedly and several parody accounts from the lion's point of view have already appeared including @EssexLion and @TheEssexLion. Twitter users are also flooding the site with comedy, photoshopped, or fake pictures of lions such as this from Rebecca Jenkins (@beckyjenkinz) and this from Periwinkle Jones (@peachesandcream).
Also trending Monday is the 'Twitter celebrity' Olly Riley (@_OllyRiley). Riley has over 150,000 followers and is famous, at least in the Twitter world, for simply starting provocative hashtags, tweeting pictures of sexual conquests, being misogynistic and arguing; Vice Magazine describes him as 'the bête noire of Tween twitter.'
Riley has now decided to build on his Twitter fame by launching a T-shirt range of his own design much to the derision of other microbloggers; @DustB0wlDance tweeted 'Anybody that actually buys an 'Olly Riley' T shirt really needs to evaluate their life. Seriously.' @ebonywickstead tweeted, 'I thought Olly riley having a clothing range was the most patheticthing I'd ever heard. Then I heard people brought his clothes, HAHAHAHAHA,' while @p4inKillerz noted 'olly riley's clothing collection burns my eyes.'
